Nebras Othman ( Abo walid) is from Al-Tal, a small city just outside Damascus, Syria. Before leaving his home country, he was studying Communication and Networking while actively participating in the Syrian revolution. His activism made him a target of the Assad regime, forcing him to flee for his safety.
In Libya, Nebras co-launched an Internet service company and established a graphic design and advertising business, demonstrating an early passion for innovation and entrepreneurship even amidst adversity. When the conflict in Libya escalated, he undertook the perilous journey to Europe, seeking safety and new opportunities.
Now based in Germany, Nebras has built a career in software engineering and entrepreneurship. Since 2016, he has worked with Refugee Voices Tours, sharing his story and amplifying the voices of displaced Syrians. His vision for the future includes fostering a thriving culture of entrepreneurship in Syria, helping to rebuild his country and empower its citizens to create a stable and democratic society.
Berlin has profoundly influenced Nebras, empowering him with hope for the possibility of rebuilding Syria. Witnessing how Berlin transformed itself from the devastation of 1945 into the vibrant city it is today inspires his belief in renewal and progress. He particularly admires Kreuzberg for its diverse history, its spirit of activism, and its constant striving for a better future—a reflection of the aspirations he holds for Syria.
