Why we’re here (virtual)

Many people talk about the high number of refugees fleeing to Europe without mentioning what they are fleeing from. This tour, led by a Syrian refugee, delves deep into the roots of the Syrian revolution and subsequent conflict. Using Berlin as a backdrop, parallels will be drawn between Berlin’s own history of dictatorships, revolutions and war to explain why so many people have been forced to flee Syria since 2011.

This tour lasts for one hour and is conducted via Zoom.

Highlights include:

  • Platz des Volksaufständes von 1953

  • Finance Ministry

  • Topography of Terror

  • The Berlin Wall
